‘Demon Slayer’ game adds 2 demonic characters in the first update
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles released on October 14, and the video game is already receiving its first free update in November. Starting November 3, players can download two new Demon slayer characters in the game. Fans have wondered if they would be able to play as demons at some point, and the latest DLC makes that possible. Here’s what you need to know.
“Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles” Update Makes Rui and Akaza Playable Characters
Demon slayer announced on Twitter than the first update of The Chronicles of Hinokami would arrive on November 3, a promise followed soon after by Aniplex and CyberConnect2. The DLC has officially launched worldwide, and it brings two playable demonic characters into the Demon slayer game: Rui and Akaza.
Fans of the anime will remember Rui from Season 1’s Natagumo Mountain Arc, where Tanjiro and Nezuko fought the demon after facing off against his entire family. Rui is a member of the Twelve Kizuki, landing at the bottom fifth rank. Players can officially recreate his battle with Tanjiro in The Chronicles of Hinokami thanks to the DLC.
Akaza shows up during the covered Mugen train arc in the Demon slayer movie (and currently being revamped in Season 2 of the anime). He is also associated with the Twelve Kizuki, claiming the top third rank. He will likely prove to be a powerful opponent in the game, so players won’t want to miss this update.
Is the DLC free for PlayStation and Xbox?

The new DLC for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles is available for free on all platforms the game is currently running on. These include PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and Steam.
Unfortunately, the game is not available on Nintendo Switch and has not announced plans to change that anytime soon. Some fans are hoping this will eventually get into the system, but it’s unclear if that’s a possibility.

The DLC for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles is one of three updates currently planned for the game. While the other two have yet to receive a tentative release schedule, they promise to add even more new characters to the mix. Rui and Akaza won’t be the only demons available in the fighting game for a long time.
According to Dual Shockers, each DLC will contain two new playable characters, adding six in total once they’re all available. As for the characters fans will see, they could coincide with the arrival of Demon slayer Entertainment District Arc for Season 2 in December. So far, the characters are mostly from the first season of the anime. This could change as more episodes of Demon slayer air.
Of course, the game could introduce many characters from Season 1, including Muzan Kibutsuji. The Big Bad of the anime is not yet available in The Chronicles of Hinokami, but his addition makes the most sense given his importance in Tanjiro’s story.
Fans will have to wait for more updates to be announced. Fortunately, they have Rui and Akaza to keep them busy while they wait. There is also the second season of the anime, which airs new episodes every Sunday.
