Herbert E. Wedler, 89, of Bristol, husband of Gertrude (Wilde) Wedler died on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Herb was born November 28, 1931 in Hartford, the son of the late Christian Emil and Anna (Kleiber) Wedler.

Herb was a parishioner at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Bristol, where he sang in the choir and served on numerous boards and committees. He was also a long-time member of the Bristol Chorale. He knew very well how to work with his hands and liked to paint figurines of birds. He loved to read, especially about birds, nature, and National Geographic magazines. Before his retirement, he worked as a mechanical engineer.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Carole Wedler of Bristol, Joanie Sutter of Goshen and Heidi Beaulieu and her husband Timothy of Harwinton; one granddaughter, Amelia Beaulieu of Harwinton; and a cousin, Walter Wedler of Tennessee. Herb was predeceased by his sister Lillian Ugarte.

Funeral services will be on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1125 Stafford Ave., Bristol. Face masks are compulsory. Interment will follow at Peacedale Cemetery, 115-199 James P Casey Road, Bristol. Family and friends can call Funk Funeral Home on Sunday (August 8, 2021) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The family asks all participants to wear a face mask.
